Carlsbad Rotary Club to nominate a hero

The Board of Directors will be forwarding the name of a local first responder/hero to District 5520 for recognition at this yea'rs annual convention to be held in Albuquerque on May 17-20. If you would like to submit a name for the Board to consider, please use the nomination form at the link below. The forms are due to President Mike by Wednesday, February 8.

Local effort aims to eliminate drugs in the workplace

Alison Bryant, was recently the speaker at the Carlsbad Rotary Club. Bryant is a preventionist with the Carlsbad Community Anti-Drug/Gang Coalition and her topic was drugs in the workplace. Bryant and the Coalition have partnered with local businesses and organizations to provide awareness and training to help employers keep their workplaces safe and drug free. The Coalition's help is taylored to the needs and wants of the business and all information is kept confidential. This way, employers can help their employees make healthy choices and everybody wins.

Santa pays a visit to the Carlsbad Rotary Club

Just days before his 'round-the-world journey, Santa Clause stopped by the Carlsbad Rotary Club to spend some time with our members and numerous potential future Rotarians! The jolly ol' elf arrived right after Rotarian Mark Schinnerer accepted our gifts for 21 local CARC residents with special needs, many of whom do not have family nearby. Then Santa gave us a gift ... a reading of The Night Before Christmas! Before leaving, he took time to visit with the kids individually and pose for pictures. He certainly got to hear a lot of last minute additions to Christmas lists!
